We moved after 12 years from Kennesaw Mountain Veterinary after they caused harm our oldest child to good dog. They definitely listen to the concerns of the parents, very positive and caring when it came to our 3 babies. Their fees are definitely higher than what we are used to, as well as they take your baby in the backroom to get checked out. That is definitely not something we are used to as well. Although, as parents, we know that our kids behave one way around us, they behave differently when mom and dad are not in sight.
Highly recommend this practice.
Having problems with our 6yr old minpins newish allergies (already taking meds for allergy AND on sensitive food)
and Dr Pratt seems to be just as interested in solving the issue as we are.
Don’t feel that was the case with the vet we saw previously….
Total confidence that our fur baby is on the way to clearer skin and less biting & itching!!

I wanted to take a moment to recognize Good Dog Veterinary Care, and specifically Shelly Powell and Dr. Jacquelyn Terrell, for their incredible dedication and hard work. Recently, as the Hospital Director of Big Creek Animal Hospital, I offered to assist in any way possible to help animals impacted by Hurricane Helene and Milton. Shortly after, Good Dog reached out regarding a sweet pup named Molly, who had been affected by the storm.
The situation was dire, and hope seemed fleeting. However, Shelly went above and beyond to ensure that Molly's story had a happy ending. While we housed Molly at Big Creek, it was Shelly who did all the legwork—finding this sweet girl a new home and saving her life in the process. I have been in this field for many years, and I can honestly say I've rarely seen the lengths Shelly and the Good Dog team went to in order to help an animal in need.
Veterinary medicine can be tough, and not all stories have happy endings. But thanks to the efforts of Good Dog, we were able to write one. Our partnership with them during this situation is something I will always treasure. If you're looking for a veterinary office in the Cobb County area, I can personally vouch for Good Dog’s exceptional care and compassion. This team truly cares about their patients, and their work and collaboration in this situation was nothing short of remarkable.
Thank you, Shelly, Dr. Terrell, and everyone at Good Dog Veterinary Care. Together, we pulled off a miracle and saved a dog’s life. This is why we do what we do, and I am eternally grateful for your dedication and support.

Our dogs are treated well here and we have been coming for four years
We started taking our miniature schnauzer, Pete, here over the summer and we love Good Dog at West Cobb. Our vet is Dr. York and she is so kind and knowledgeable. I have a million questions when it comes to Pete’s health and she is so kind and answers them all without seeming to get irritated. We have taken our baby to other vets who do not really care about Pete and are just there for the money and will nickel and dime you at every turn but at Good Dog this is not the case. Everyone there is so nice that Pete willingly goes in the back with them. I also love that their office doesn’t look as sterile and cold as many traditional vets which puts us and Pete at ease. Pete recently got diagnosed with Epilepsy and we ended up having to take him to a veterinary hospital with a neurological unit but Good Dog called after they got send the results and asked if there was anything they could do and they all have been keeping him in their thoughts. We absolutely love Good Dog at West Cobb. Thank you so much for everything y’all do!!

Great staff and business to support. Go above and beyond to look out for their clients. Will treat your dog with the best care
I cannot express how grateful we are that this office made time to see our girl Millie today. After getting home from night shift and greeting my husband we noticed her paw was swollen and inflamed. We called our normal vet, they couldn’t get us in, then we called another same story. One vet gave us this office to call. We reached out and after the staff member spoke with the vet they called us back and promptly got us an appointment. They’re giving us the tools we need to help fight her infection and get her allergies under control. I will also say I was expecting the worst for the price knowing last minute emergencies can get expensive — this was not the case. Overall we will be switching to this office for our girls care in the future. I cannot thank this office enough. You made a huge impact on us💓
**Exceptional Veterinary Care**
I cannot recommend Dr. Alvey and the team at Good Dog highly enough. From routine care to end-of-life support, their compassion, expertise, and professionalism were evident every step of the way.
Routine Care: Dr. Alvey provided outstanding care for my dogs, Hannah (14 years old) and Harley (been a patient since 8 weeks old) ensuring that they receive comprehensive check-ups, a well-balanced diet, and all necessary vaccinations. The attention to detail in grooming, dental care, and overall health management was remarkable. The team always took the time to explain each procedure and answer any questions I had (and I asked a lot), which gave me great confidence in their care.
End-of-Life Discussion: When we found out Hannah had a condition several years ago, Dr. Alvey took a gentle, respectful approach to educating me but also preparing me for the uncertainty. She said she would tell me when it was time to consider the difficult talk of end-of-life. When it became clear that Hannah was nearing the end of her journey, Dr. Alvey was incredibly supportive. She was empathetic and provided clear, compassionate guidance. The process was handled with the utmost sensitivity and respect, allowing Hannah to pass away respectfully and peacefully. Even though I knew it would eventually come, it was very difficult. Dr. Alvey and team gave us all the time we needed to ask any questions and even just cry. The personalized care of not just our pet but for the pet owners, made a significant difference in maintaining Hannah’s quality of life.
Dr. Alvey and the team at Good Dog demonstrated extraordinary care and compassion in every aspect of Hannah’s health journey. Their dedication to providing excellent veterinary care and support during such a difficult time was deeply appreciated.
